Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Taluma Pty Ltd, trading as The Healthy Building Designer (“THBD”, “we”, “us” or “our”), collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information in connection with www.thbd.com.au, our services, courses, digital products, communications and related business activities.

We aim to handle personal information transparently and responsibly and, where applicable, in accordance with Australian privacy laws.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect information such as:

• name and contact details

• billing and transaction information

• enquiries, correspondence and feedback

• project details, plans, photographs, property information and design preferences

• course, membership or account information

• newsletter and marketing preferences

• website usage, device, browser, cookie and analytics information

• information you voluntarily provide about functional, sensory, accessibility or health-related needs where it is relevant to an enquiry or service.

We do not need or want more health or disability information than is reasonably necessary for the relevant service. Where possible, we prefer users to describe functional needs and environmental requirements rather than provide unnecessary diagnoses or medical records.

3. How we collect information

We may collect information directly from you when you complete a form, contact us, purchase a product or service, enrol in a course, subscribe to communications, create an account, participate in a promotion or provide project information.

We may also collect limited technical information automatically through our website and the technology and service providers used to operate it.

4. Why we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

• respond to enquiries and provide requested services

• process purchases, bookings and access to digital products or courses

• communicate about orders, services, accounts or support

• prepare design advice or project recommendations

• operate, secure and improve the website and our services

• understand website usage and performance

• send marketing communications where permitted and manage communication preferences

• manage complaints, disputes, legal obligations and business records.

5. Sensitive and health-related information

Information about health, disability or similar matters may be sensitive information under Australian privacy law.

Where such information is relevant, we will seek to collect only what is reasonably necessary for the service and only in circumstances where collection is permitted. Providing unnecessary medical records or detailed diagnoses is not required unless we specifically explain why the information is needed.

THBD is a design and education business and does not use health information to diagnose or provide medical treatment.

6. Payments

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. Where payment is processed by a third party, that provider handles payment-card information under its own privacy and security practices.

THBD does not need to retain full card details merely to process a standard online payment.

7. Service providers and disclosure

We may disclose personal information to service providers that help us operate the business, such as website hosting and technology providers, payment processors, email and communication platforms, course or digital-product platforms, professional advisers and contractors who require access for an authorised business purpose.

We do not sell personal information.

Some service providers may process or store information outside Australia. The locations used by individual providers can change. Where Australian privacy law requires us to identify likely overseas disclosures and it is reasonably practicable to do so, we will provide or update that information.

8. Cookies, analytics and similar technology

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions, preferences, security, analytics and other website features.

Some analytics or advertising technologies can use online identifiers or information about how a visitor interacts with a website. We will describe material tracking practices accurately and use consent controls where required or appropriate for the technologies and visitors involved.

You may also be able to manage cookies through your browser or available website consent controls.

9. Marketing communications

We may send marketing communications where we have the required permission or another lawful basis to do so.

Commercial electronic messages will identify the sender and include a clear way to unsubscribe where required.

You can unsubscribe using the link in the message or by contacting us at hello@thbd.com.au.

10. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, our business and record-keeping needs, dispute management and applicable legal requirements.

We may securely delete or de-identify information when it is no longer required.

11. Access and correction

You may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you or to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may refuse or limit access where permitted by law.

12. Privacy concerns and complaints

If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact hello@thbd.com.au and provide enough information for us to understand the issue.

We will review the matter and respond within a reasonable period.

If Australian privacy law gives you a further right to complain to a regulator, that right is not affected by this policy.

13. Children

Our website and general educational resources are primarily directed to adults.

We do not rely on the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) as the governing privacy framework for this Australian business.

If information about a child is relevant to a service, a parent, guardian or authorised adult should provide only the information reasonably necessary for that purpose.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our information-handling practices, technologies or legal obligations change.

The current version will be published on the website with the date of the latest update.
